Are you talking about where you edit your posts? There isn't a new "official" one but there is at least one third-party mod. I don't know how Dussander feels about that though.

- yeah, two thing I do a lot are inserting hyperlinks and use bullet points - neither of which I am able to do that easily on this forum version.

Yeah, there is no good hyperlink generator with phBBB. Bullet points are pretty easy though. The "List" function works fine, though you have to add the bullets themselves manually. But many people just use the [*] button for that. So it's pretty easy.
